Weight control requires proper nutrition, exercise, enough sleep, calorie management,
motivation, and discipline.
Proper nutrition
A well balanced meal plan includes whole grain carbs, low fat meats, green vegetables,
and fruits. Cut out sugared sodas, most desserts, most junk food.
Exercise
At least an hour a day at the gym or at home. Try to find something you can enjoy
doing. Mix it up to avoid burnout. Jump rope, swim, cycle, fast walk, jog,
exercise videos. Group workouts are great!
Sleep
Teens need 8-10 hours of sleep each night. Less and things just don’t work right.
Lack of sleep has been associated with weight gain. 60 Minute segment on this recently.
Calorie management
Every calorie counts. Learn the calorie content of food. Figure out you BMR,
basal metabolic rate. Target this for you daily calorie allowance. Good for discipline.
Motivation
Weight control is a big factor in mental and physical health. So, of course, is appearence. You want to look good.
Discipline
Where we all tend to get into trouble. Just take it one day at a time. And,
don’t beat yourself up for over indulging occasionally. We all do it. Just take up
where you left off.

If self education is not your bag, join Weight Watchers or
something similar. They’ll teach you and you’ll have group support.
Good Luck.
